In any multiplayer game, you would want to get as much of an advantage as you can. This is even more true for a game like COD: Black Ops Cold War. And if you are using default settings, then you are at a disadvantage even before the match begins. In this guide, we will help you with the best controller settings that suit your playstyle so that you can have an edge over others. Best Controller Setting for you? This setting control how your controller is going to interact with your character. A good setting can make it easier for you to control your character, hence improve your ranking. Whereas a bad setting can cripple you even before the match begins. So what is this good setting, you ask? And I have also tried out these settings with some of my friends. And you can go with these settings, they can serve you really well. But by any chance these setting doesn't suit you playstyle then worry not. I am going to explain every setting in detail. So you choose the setting that suits you playstyle. But if you don't want to go through the trouble to read all that, then you can just use these settings. Sensitivity: Horizontal Stick Sensitivity: 7Vertical Stick Sensitivity: 6ADS Stick Sensitivity (Low Zoom): 1.0ADS Stick Sensitivity (High Zoom) 0.8 This setting controls how much your thumbstick affects your in-game moments. The higher the sensitivity, the faster your character will turn when you move the thumbstick. But that also makes that much harder for you to Aim. At its maximum, you will be able to do a 180 even with the slightest movement of your thumbstick. But this also makes it almost impossible for you to Aim precisely because you can't make small adjustments. At the minimum Sensitivity, you will have much more control over your moments, making it ideal for long-range battles. But your character will too slow to turn. Horizontal and Vertical Stick Sensitivity In most of the FPS games, having a Low sensitivity is better so that you can Aim precisely. But it should be high enough for you to be able to take close-range battles, The Sweet spot for most players would be between 4-/8. It is neither too high nor too low. You will be able to take Long as well as Close range fights. Many people keep their Horizontal and vertical sensitivity different but I personally love to keep both of them at 7. It works perfectly for me. You can also try this. It might work for you. But if you are missing too many of your shots, then try lowering your sensitivity. ADS Stick Sensitivity (High Zoom & Low zoom) As the name suggest ADS sensitivity is the sensitivity when you are in ADS. We use ADS for better precision. So, it doesn't make sense to have a high sensitivity. Your ADS Stick Sensitivity (High Zoom) should be at 0.8 so that can Aim the sniper shoots precisely. And missing those shots because of high-sensitivity is the last you would want. While you are using Low zoom scope, you can bump it a little to be able to track your enemies better. The sweet spot for ADS Stick Sensitivity (Low zoom) is 1.2. With this, you wouldn't lose too much accuracy and will be able to track your enemy. Button Layout Button Layout: Default When it comes to Button layout Cold War give us a lot to choose from. "Default" is your go-to if you are not using a Scuf-style controller. Well, if you have a Scuf-style controller then you have a lot to choose from. If you have a Scuf-style controller then Tactical is a really good choice. Flip L2+R2 with L1+R1/LT+RT with LB+RB Flip L2+R2 with L1+R1/LT+RT with LB+RB: Default This is the setting that will come down to your personal preference. It will switch your L2, R2 with L1, R1. I am used to the Default layout so I keep it at "Default", but if you want to try something new then you can try this. Invert Vertical Look Invert Vertical Look: Disabled This setting will invert the vertical controls on your controller, which means you will lookk up when you push your thumbstick down and vice-versa. You should Disable this setting until and unless you love to play with an Inverted vertical look or you just want to try something fun. I sometimes play with Inverted Vertical looks just for fun, but rest of the time I keep it disable. Controller Vibration Controller Vibration: Disabled Whether you should Enable or Disable your Controller Vibration comes down to your personal preference. While some people love to play game with Controller Vibration "ON" to make it the experience more immersive. While some want to focus more so they "Disable" their vibration. I tend to distract easily so I keep my Controller Vibration "Disable". Threshold Left Stick Min Input Threshold: 5Left Stick Max Input Threshold: 100Right Stick Min Input Threshold: 4Right Stick Max Input Threshold: 100 Minimum Threshold is nothing but the Deadzone of your Controller. So, What is Deadzone? You might be wondering. Deadzone control’s how far you have to move the thumbstick before it registers in-game. Deadzone depends on your controller's stick drifts, Old controller tends to have a higher stick drift, and even a new controller has some stick drift. A low deadzone is always preferable but you would want to have it too low that it cause Accidental touches. So, what is the minimum input Threshold you should use? The default Minimum Input Threshold is 10. That means you have to push 10% of your thumbstick before it gets registered in-game. The higher your Minimum input Threshold is, the further you have to move your thumbstick before it registered in-game, creating a delay on what you input and what got registered in-game. So, you would want to have too high of a Deadzone, which starts to create major delays. You can set your Minimum Input Threshold to 5.0. It is not too high to create any major delays or not too low. And this can work even if your controller is old. As for Maximum Input Threshold just use the default 100. But just in-case if 5.0 deadzone doesn't work then worry not, this can help you find the ideal deadzone for your controller. How to find the ideal Minimum Input Threshold for your controller? To find the minimum Threshold for your controller: Go to the setting and set both your Minimum input Threshold to 0 and your Sensitivity to 100.Then go to practice mode. And you will notice that your character starts walking on its own.Then increase your Minimum Input Threshold by 1. And then go to practice mode. And do this again and again until your character stops moving on its own. And that would be the Minimum Input Threshold or Deadzone for your controller. Note that it is possible for both sticks to have different Minimum Input Threshold or Deadzone. Controller Sounds Controller Sounds: Disabled Controller sound is the another setting that come down to your personal preference. I personally use Headphones when I play games so I keep it disabled. And If you are also playing with your headphones then, you should also do the same. Auto Move Forward Auto Move Forward: Disabled Enabling this setting allows you to move by moving your thumbstick forward twice, and you can use stop by pulling your thumbstick back. This setting also comes down to your personal preference. I personally keep this setting disabled. Because I like to have more freedom when my character move. Auto Sprint Auto Move: Disabled Enabling this setting will allow you to Sprint as soon as you press forward. I would recommend keeping this setting "Disabled" because you wouldn't want to caught sprinting in an awkward situation. Well, I have lost a few games because of this. But if you are someone who loves fast-paced games then you can try Enabling this. Sprint Cancels Reload Sprint Cancels Reload: Enabled Enabling this setting will cancels Reload when you sprint. You should Enable this setting because so that you can instantly Cancel Reload when you are under attack or you want to 3rd party someone. Armor Behavior Armor Behavior: Apply all You would want to choose Armor Behavior to apply all. it can save you the trouble to apply for every armor plate separately. And you can cancel it anytime you want. So there is basically no reason for you to not to set it to Apply All.
