What is causing the Realm 429 Error in Minecraft?

Source: Minecraft.net

Error 429 occurs when you send too many requests in the given amount of time, so to protect itself server denies all of your requests for a certain timeframe.

But most of us have only sent the request once, but the server the still showing the error. There can be many reasons for that, but the main point is there are many requests, and now the server is blocking any further issue.

Things to do before the solution

Before I would recommend trying some quick fixes that have solved the issue for many people and might do the same for you.

Restart Minecraft: I know I said before that the issue is related to the server but we just can’t overlook the power of Restart. And, weirdly it has worked for some people too.

Leave Minecraft Beta: You cannot play Minecraft realm when you are a part of Minecraft beta, so make sure that you are not a part of Minecraft beta.

Stable Internet connection: If your internet connection is not stable then it can also cause the issue. So, make sure that your internet connection is stable.

Disable Java Updates

In this method we are going to disable the Java Updated. Although this method didn’t worked for me, but it did work for a lot of people on Reddit so definitely worth giving a try.

To disable java update on Windows follow these steps:

Step 1: Go to control panel by clicking on start menu then typing control panel.

Step 2: Go to programs.

Step 3: Open the Java control panel by right click on java then open.

Step 4: Inside the Java control panel go to “Update”.

Step 5: Uncheck the “Check for Update automatically” box inside the Update.

Step 6: As soon as you uncheck the box a warning will pop up, “Click on Do not check”.

Step 7: Click on Apply and Ok.

Now all you have to do is run the game and hopefully the issue is fixed.

If you are a Mac user, then you can go to system preferences > Java Control Panel > Update > Uncheck the “Check for update automatically” > Don’t check > Select Apply and OK.

Uninstalling and Installing Java

If the Java you are using then it can also cause some issues, so we are going to first uninstall then reinstall the latest version of Java.

Java can be uninstall like any other program.

  1. Go to control panel by clicking on start menu then typing control panel.
  2. Click on Uninstall a program.
  3. Find Java from the list then double click on it to uninstall.

Now that we have uninstalled Java it’s time for us to reinstall it again.

To install Java follow these steps:

  1. Download the latest version of Java from [hereOpens in a new tab.].
  2. Once the downloaded, double click on it to start installing.
  3. Click on install to start installing and click finish once it’s fully installed.

This should fix the error and nor you should be able to enjoy the game.

Stop all Java Related tasks

Sometimes there are many unnecessary Java related tasks that can cause the issues. And, one potential way to fix the issue is close all the Java related tasks.

Here is how to do it:

  1. Open the Task Manager by pressing Alt + Ctrl + Delete then clicking on the Task Manager.
  2. End task all the Java-related task by Right click on it then on End task.

Power Cycle the Router and PC

If none of the method didn’t work for you then it means then it means Java is not causing the issue.

So in this method we are going to Restart both PC and more importantly Router.

Restart the Router can refresh your internet connecting.

Just follow this to Power Cycle your Router: “Power off the Router” and pull the power cable out for 30 sec. Then start the router again.

Change your IP address

Like we have discussed before that the server has blocked your IP address to protect itself from crashing. So, changing the internet connection will change your IP address and solve the issue.

Connecting to a different network

One way to change your IP address is by connecting to a different network. So you should connect to a different Wi-fi or use a mobile hotspot (if your mobile internet connecting is reliable).

Note: Just changing from Wi-fi to LAN or connecting to a Wi-fi extender or booter will not work as the source is still the same. The main point is you have to change your IP address.

This method has worked for me without fail. And I’m confident it can work for you too,

Use VPN

Another reliable way to change the IP address is using a VPN.

I don’t think I need to say about this too much just for the sake of content.

Using a VPN changes your IP address so to server you seem like a different user. And hence solving the issue.

This should definitely fixed the issue.
