How To Fix Micro Stuttering in Modern Warfare

Micro Stuttering in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is pretty common. I have personally faced the same issue. And if you are also facing the stutting issue in Modern Warfare then don’t worry, I got your back.

The stuttering is different from your common lags. How? Because you will still get 60+ FPS, 50 pings, no major packet loss but that 60+ FPS will feel like 10 or 20 FPS.

Modern Warfare stuttering issue is caused due to Windows 10 game-mode. To disable windows 10 game mode go to Setting< Gaming < Game mode then disable it. After that diable Vsync too. Vsync can be disable by Settings< Graphics, then disable Vsync.

Even though this method works surprisingly well for most of the players but there is still a chance that it might not work for you. So here are some different methods that you can use to solve this issue.

What are the causes of Stuttering?

There are many reasons why you might be facing shuttering in Modern Warfare. Some of them are related to hardware, which is harder to resolve. And some of them are related to software.

The problem might be your CPU

Modern Warfare is a really fairly new game with great graphics. So, it’s fair that it have a really high requirement’s.

The Recommended requirement for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is:
CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K or AMD Ryzen R5 1600X processor
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 / GTX 1660 or Radeon R9 390 / AMD RX 580
RAM: 12GB
Direct X: DirectX 12.0 compatible system
Hard Drive Space: 175 GB

You can check the Modern warfare minimum requirement at Activision’s official website hereOpens in a new tab..

The recommended GPU for running Modern Warfare is NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 / GTX 1660 or Radeon R9 390 / AMD RX 580 and considering its graphics I say it’s totally fair.

But its CPU requirements are surprisingly low. Don’t get me wrong, both Intel Core i5-2500K and AMD Ryzen R5 1600X are capable processors, but you can’t argue that both these processors have aged quite a bit, and the game is not optimized for older generation CPU.

For Modern Warfare I would recommend having at least Intel i7-8700K or AMD Ryzen 1800X processor.

If you have an Old generation CPU, then don’t worry, I’m not asking you to change your processor or anything. It’s still possible to solve the shuttering without changing it.

Windows 10 game mode

Modern Warfare already has a pretty bad optimization, and Windows 10 game mode has made the problem even worse.

Another one of the reasons for shuttering in Modern Warfare is Windows 10 game mode. And this can be easily solved by disabling it, To disable windows game mode go to Setting(Windows)< Gaming < Game mode then disable it.

Low RAM

Another reason for shuttering in Modern Warfare is Low RAM.

The minimum requirement to run the game is 8GB, but the game is totally unplayable. At the Activision official website, 12GB is the recommended RAM to run the game, but the game is not optimized. so it’s recommended to have at least 16GB if you want a Stutter-free experience in Modern Warfare.

Method 1: Disabling Modern Warfare Vsync

I’m sure that most of you are not surprised by seeing Vsync here. Well, almost every time we are facing any in-game issue, V-sync seems to be the cause of the problem or the part of the problem.

I’m sure that all of you are already know what Vsync is, but just for the content- What is Vsync?

Vsync is the feature that syncs the frame rates of the game to the frame rate of your screen.

Shuttering in Modern Warfare can be fixed by disabling the Vsync in-game.

You can disable the Vsync by going into Settings< Graphics then make sure that Vsync is turned off.

Disabling Vsync not only helps to fix stuttering in Modern Warfare, but it also helps you increase your FPS.

Method 2

In this, we are going to install the software, Intelligent Standby list cleaner(ISLC) by Wagnard.

Intelligent Standby list cleaner(ISLC)

I know that your minds are full of questions like -What is this software, Is it safe, etc. Don’t worry, I’m going to answer all of them.

Can you trust Wagnard?

Yes, you can trust Wagnard.

Intelligent Standby list cleaner(ISLC) by Wagnard is not the first software Wagnard. They have released a lot of software and some them are quite popular in the community.

I’m sure some of you might have heard of Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU), and it’s get quite popular in the community.

I have personally used both DDU and ISLC, and they work really well for me.

How ISLC help fixing the stuttering in Modern Warfare

Whenever we play Modern Warfare (or any other game that runs on Directx 12) the RAM start’s to fill up over time. And it’s start’s to cause stuttering or you could say Micro Stuttering.

This is where ISLC comes in.

The main role of ISLC is whenever your RAM usage exceeds a certain amount (you set), it will end all the unnecessary programs and clean the RAM so that you don’t face any issues while playing.

You can download it from Wagnard official website Here.Opens in a new tab.

You need to have Windows 10 creator or a higher version to run this software.

After downloading, just extract the zip file. And you can run the program by clicking Intelligent Standby list cleaner.exe.

You can delete ISLC by deleting the folder you have extracted.

What to do after you finish extracting

Step 1: Open command prompt as Administrator, and paste bcdedit /set useplatformtick yes and press enter. And for, why? Because you won’t be able to change Minimum timer resolution without iit.

Step 2: Set the wanted timer resolution to 0.5. By default, the Wanted timer resolution is set to 1.0. Also, make sure to Enable the Custom timer resolution.

Step 3: Now put half of what your RAM is in “Free memory is lower than”. For example, I have a 32768MB or 32GB RAM, so I am going to put 16,384 in Free memory is lower than.
ISLC is going to end all the unnecessary programs whenever my free RAM is lower than 16GB.
There is no need for you to change the “List size is at least“, keep it at default 1024MV.

Step 4: Check-in both boxes that say “Start ISLC minimized and auto-start monitoring” and “Launch ISLC on user Logan.”
What it will do is auto-launch ISLC whenever you boot your PC. So you don’t have to open it every time you have to play Modern Warfare or any game.

This will definitely solve any stuttering issue you might be facing.
