My friends has finally got his hand on PS5 controller, but he was not able to use it on his PC. Then we did some research and here is how we are able to use PS5 controller on PC.
The easiest way to use the PS5 controller on a PC is through Steam. Steam games got added to the library as soon as they are downloaded. To add non-steam games like Warzone, Fortnite, and Cold War go to the “Games menu” at the top-left corner< Add a Non-Steam Game to my library< choose the game.
This method should definitely work, but if don’t want to steam overlay on every game you play, then don’t worry we got your back for that too.
How to connect the PS5 controller?
Just like any other controller, you can easily connect the PS5 duel sense controller. And I’m sure some of you already have.
If you haven’t then you can follow this guide.
Wired
Connecting the PS5 controller to your PC is hella easy, you just need a USB-C to USB-A cable or a USB-C to USB-C cable if your PC has a USB-C port.
To get connected with Duelsense, just connect the Controller and PC with the USB cable, And windows will automatically download any needed drover.
Sadly, the USB cable won’t come inside the box if you have bought the controller separately.

Wirelessly with Bluetooth
To connect wirelessly connect DuelSense, your PC needs to either have a built-in Bluetooth in your motherboard or a Bluetooth adaptor that you can buy separately.
If you need to buy an adapter, here’s an amazon choice winner from TP-link on amazon.
On your DuelSense, hold down the PS button and the Share button until the LED start’s to blink rapidly. This will put the controller on pairing mode.
Now go to your PC and hit the windows button and type “Bluetooth”, then go-to “Bluetooth and other devices settings” > “Add Bluetooth or other devices” > “Bluetooth” > Connect to your PS5 Duelsense controller. And windows will automatically download any needed drover.
Now, it’s time to look at the methods to use PS5 controller on PC.
Method 1: Using DS4Windows
For this method, we are going to use DS4Windows. I’m sure some of you might have heard of this. It’s quite popular in the community for using a PS4 controller on PC, but with the latest, you can use the PS5 controller too.
With this method you can play games like Modern Warfare, Fortnite, Cold War with your PS5 controller.
Without further ado let’s get the step:
Step 1: Connect the controller either via USB cable or Bluetooth.
Step 2:- First Download this file [ DS4Windows
]. Then extract it.
Step 2: Click on DS4Windows.exe to install the program. Then select App data to install it as a normal program or Program Folder to install it as a portable program.
Step 4: Install the “ViGEmBus Driver” for windows 10 and 360 Driver for windows 7. It will start the download as soon as you click on it. Don’t worry it won’t take long to download.
Step 4: Install the driver after it’s downloaded. Then click finish.
Step 6: Open the app and click on the Start button at the bottom right corner. And your DuelSense controller will show up.
PRO TIP: If you are using a USB cable then you can change the LED color to your liking.
Now, you can play any game with your PS5 Duelsense controller.
The one thing I love about DS4Windows is, you can use the PS5 controller as Trackpad even when you are not playing games. What’s the use for that?. I don’t know, it’s fun and I love it.
Method 2: Using Steam
Steam also allows us to play games with a PS5 controller. So, it’s perfectly fine if you don’t want to use a Third-party application,
The first thing you wanna do is connect your DuelSense to your PC either wired or wirelessly.
Currently, steam has only released DuelSense support for its Beta Clients, so we would also need to switch to Beta Clients too.
To Switch to Beta Client:
- Click on the Steam menu at the top-left corner of your screen. Then go to setting.
2. Then click on Account, and under Beta Participation, you can see whether you are already a beta participant or not. If you aren’t then click on CHANGE to be a Steam Beta client.
3. Then just restart your Steam and wait some time for it to get updated.
Once this is finished, you can use your PS5 DuelSense to play games. By default, steam will recognize your DuelSense as an Xbox controller, So your Triangle button is Y, the Square button is X, Cross is A, and Circle is B. And, you will not be able to change your DuelSense button layout,
TIP: Make sure to Enabling PlayStation Configuration Support. This will not only let you customize your controller, but you will able to be able to use DuelSense’s cool Gyro-sensor for some Gyro Aiming.
To Enable PlayStation Configuration Support:
Step 1: Launch Steam in Big Picture Mode or you can launch Big Picture mode in the View Menu.
You can configure your DuelSense only in Big Picture Mode.
Step 2: Go to Setting at the top-right corner of the Screen.
Step 3: Then go to Controller Setting and then Enable “PlayStation Configuration Support.”
As soon as you enable this, Steam will now recognize your PS5 controller as a DualShock 4. And this lets you do a lot more with your controller like being able to change button layout.
Now all that left for you is to launch the game from Steam library and Enjot it.
How to use DuelSense for non-steam games
Although Steam has a lot of games but there are still a lot of games like Fortnite, Modern Warfare, Cold War that are not on Steam, But don’t there is a solution for that too.
The easiest way to play non-native steam games on your PC using Duelsense is to add games to The Steam Library and then run it from there.
To add non-steam games to the library follow these steps:
Step 1: Click on the Game menu in steam.
Step 2 : Then Click on the “Add game to my library”. And this should show you the list of all the installed games on your PC.
Step 3: Then choose the game you wanna add to the library.
Step 4: Go to library and run the game from there,
This way you can play both steam and non-steam game on your PC.
Method 3: Using Xbox 360 emulator
Just like DS4Windows, Xbox 360 Emulator is the another really popular fan-made software that can let you play any steam and non steam game like Fortnite, Cold War and Modern Warfare with you DuelSense controller ,without using steam.
If basically tricks PC to think that our DuelSense is a Xbox 360 controller. And Xbox 360 controller has the plug-and-play compatibility with almost every PC game in the market.
Let’s cut the chit-chat and without further ado, let get down to it:
Step 1: Download the Xbox 360 emulator from {X360ce}. Make sure to download the latest version.
Step 2: Connect the controller to your PC either via USB or Bluetooth.
Step 3: Install the program which we have download before.
Step 4: Open the program and it will automatically recognize the DuelSense.
Step 5: Click on the conroller 1 tab, then click add button. Don’t forgot to select DuelSense and then “Add selected device”.
Step 6: Now all that left for you is Map the button and play the game. You can map the button by clicking on the blank space and the corresponding button will blink. Then just click that button on your PS5 controller,
This should let you play any game on your PC with your PS5 controller, without any issue.
